James Patrick Donohue, Sr. a resident of Stuart, Fla. and Somers, NY, died on November 14, 2000. He was 81.

Jimmy was born on September 6th, 1919, in Great Barrington, Ma. He was a son of Cecilia Waldron and John Henry Donohue. The family moved to New Rochelle in 1922, where he attended the parish school of Holy Family Church, New Rochelle High School 1938, and New York University.

In September 1941, he enlisted in the United States Navy as a Naval Aviation Cadet and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corp in August 1942. As a result of a flying accident he was retired from active duty as a Captain in October 1945.

He began his business career in the paper industry with Charles F. Hubbs & Co. and retired from George W. Milar & Co. as a Vice-President of Sales in 1989.

On October 18th, 1947 Jimmy married Marie Strack in the Church of the Holy Family. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in St. Joseph's Church, Croton Falls. Jim Donohue was a resident of the City of New Rochelle and a communicant of the Church of the Holy Family for over 68 years. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Heritage Hills in Somers, NY. Jimmy also maintains a residence on Hutchinson Island, Florida.

Jimmy was a life member of the Westchester Chapter of the Retired Officer's of America and served on its Board of Directors. He was a member of the Orienta Beach in Mamaroneck for many years where he constantly stood out as a champion of the shuffle board courts. In Heritage Hills, he was an active member of The Garden Club, the Walkers and Hikers, and participated in numerous Heritage Hills activities. In Stuart, he was an active member of the Stuart Shuffleboard club.

Surviving in addition to his beloved wife, Marie, are their seven children and four children-in-law:

Mr. & Mrs. Paul J. Donohue of Jacksonville, Fla.
and 10 beloved grandchildren.

Also surviving are his Brother, Reverend John W. Donohue, S.J.
his two sisters: Mrs. Mary McCarren of Bronxville, NY
and Mrs. Frederick H. (Cecelia) Paulmann of New Rochelle
and 14 nieces and nephews.
